Doctor Acampora’s Professional Bio
In today’s world of fast-food medicine where patient primary care is sometimes viewed as something to “try and fit in between filling out helth insurance paperwork” — Doctor Matthew Acampora could be described as an “old-fashioned doctor” in the best sense of those words. His vision for creating Internal Medicine Associates of Charlotte in North Carolina was to build a bridge between patients and the primary care they can expect from their primary physician over a lifetime relationship, based on trust and competence. Delivering comprehensive primary care with a personalized touch is not a new concept, but it is one that Dr. Acampora strongly believes in and proudly brings to the Charlotte, North Carolina community.
Doctor Acampora of Charlotte, North Carolina has been a practicing physician for over 28 years, has worked and taught at some prestigious medical centers such as Yale-New Haven Hospital and Montifiore Hospital, has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, did a Fellowship in Infectious Disease, has extensive clinical research background, and he has been sharing this experience with the community of Charlotte, North Carolina since 1997.
As a physician specializing in Adult Internal Medicine, Doctor Acampora received an intense and comprehensive medical training. Internal Medicine Physicians, also known as “Internists”, spend extensive training years focusing on how to diagnose, treat, and help prevent the myriad of diseases that affect adults. While a Specialist is a physician who gets to know all the intricacies of one specific part of a person’s anatomy, the Internist must learn details of all anatomy to manage the complex changes that can affect a person in his or her lifetime. Internists are often referred to as a “doctor’s doctor”, because they are called on by specialists to help them solve the challenges of adult disease and illness and have a vast knowledge bank to aid them.
At Internal Medicine Associates of Charlotte in North Carolina, Doctor Acampora balances his time between seeing patients in his private office and rounding on patients admitted to both Presbyterian Hospital and Carolinas Medical Center, where he is an active Attending Physician in good standing with their Department of Internal Medicine. In addition, a focus of Doctor Acampora’s practice is helping to facilitate new and better treatments for all patients, and he is actively involved as an Investigator for Clinical Research Trials with many prestigious and well-known pharmaceutical companies. He thus is working to ensure all patients have the best access to primary care available.
Doctor Acampora lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife Donna, and their three lovely and active daughers. Donna Acampora is a registered nurse and is actively involved in practice management and clinical trials at Internal Medicine Associates of Charlotte in North Carolina.
